Meeting the board.

Having attended a recent Cucamonga School District meeting I was very disappointed at the district wanting to disenroll a family from preschool because they simply do not know how to write their names in the public comment testimony. Not all children know how to write their names at age 3 or 4. It is ironic that the district decided to unenroll the family when school districts across this state keep students who do not meet key academic benchmarks in the quest of not destroying the self-esteem of students when they are doing it in the long run.

Preschool was more about colors, story time, building blocks and running around the playground. The California State Pre-School Framework does not exactly ask for students to know how to write their names, scribble markings are the first step in writing development. And at three years old expecting those two children to write is like expecting their pre-school students to be the next Sheldon Cooper.
